25 | On December 20, 2019, at 12:15 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Blanca Ramirez, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The FCCH’s converted living room, converted bedroom and attached bedroom restroom are used for child care, while the remainder of the home is excluded from care and barricaded by a child safety gate. At the time of the inspection four children are present.
The FCCH was clean and orderly. Medication and cleaning compounds are stored in the kitchen are which is exclude from child care and beyond the reach of children. Toys, furniture and games observed in FCCH are age appropriate and in satisfactory condition.
Required forms and documents are posted on the wall of the FCCH's converted bedroom. The home’s living room has a fireplace which is screened and is in an excluded room of the home. LPA observed operable smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the FCCH. Each detector was tested. The FCCH has a regulation fire extinguisher which was last service on April 30, 2019. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the home’s fire/disaster drill log and noted the most recent fire/disaster drill occurring on October 17, 2019.
The FCCH's backyard contains grassy play areas and concrete grounding. A portion of the backyard is sectioned off for a dog (poodle). The dog's vaccination record and license were reviewed and found to be current. The backyard contains a two story detached club house. The base of the club house is barricade with a child safety gate. The backyard is enclosed by wooden fencing.and play equipment in the area is age appropriate and in satisfactory condition. No bodies of water were observed on site. Licensee reminded to ensure proper supervision of children when activities occur in the FCCH's backyard.
