On 6/21/22, at 10:45 AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Francisca Velazquez conducted an unannounced Required inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Denise Meraz, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the nature and purpose of the inspection. LPA notes eight (8) children are on site along with Assistant, Marisela Valdez. Licensee informed LPA that one (1) more child would be arriving during inspection. At around 11:30 AM, there was a total of nine (9) children on site.

LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The home consists of three (3) bedrooms, two (2) bathrooms, two (2) living rooms, kitchen and dining area, garage and outdoor yard. Licensee stated both living rooms, kitchen/dinning area, one (1) bathroom and outdoor yard are used for child care services, while all three (3) bedrooms, one (1) bathroom and garage are excluded from services. LPA notes that all three (3) bedrooms and garage contain door safety knobs making them inaccessible to children in care.

The FCCH is orderly and has ventilation to afford for the children’s comfort and safety. Medications in the FCCH are stored in an elevated cabinet in the kitchen. Sharps are stored in an elevated cabinet in the kitchen as well. Cleaning compounds were observed to be stored in an elevated shelve in the laundry room and in the garage. All areas were observed to be inaccessible to children in care. Toys, furniture and equipment observed in the FCCH are age appropriate.

Required forms are posted on the FCCH living room wall. The FCCH has smoke and carbon monoxide detectors which were tested at 11:22am and 11:35 am and were found to be operable. The FCCH has a regulation fire extinguisher which was purchased on 7/6/21. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the home’s fire/disaster drill documentation. The last drill was completed on 3/1/22. CONT 809-C

The outdoor play yard is completed fenced. LPA observed three (3) sheds located in the outdoor yard. LPA observed all sheds contain a lock making all three (3) sheds inaccessible to children in care. Filtered water is accessible at all time by means of individual cups and large water jug. LPA notes that the yard affords plenty of shade for the children. Toys, furniture and equipment observed in the yard are age appropriate. LPA observed no bodies of water on site.

A sampling of the children's records were reviewed. The records are current, complete and possessed emergency contact information. The Licensee's records were also reviewed and found to be complete. Licensee’s Pediatric CPR and First (EMSA approved) expires 10/26/23 and Mandated Reporter certificate expires on 8/15/22. LPA reviewed assistant's file and found Pediatric CPR and First (EMSA approved) expires 7/28/22 and Mandated Reporter certificate expires 7/22/22.
