On June 29, 2021 @ 12:29PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) S. Mendoza-Ceja conducted an unannounced Required 1 year inspection. LPA met with Ms. Gina Alexander and asked the Pre- Screening questions related to COVID-19. The day care is operation is conducted in the back area of the home. LPA inspected the day care area and observed it to be appropriately furnished for young children with toys. The backyard is adequately fenced and appropriately furnished for children. Upon arrival, LPA observed licensee providing care to 3 children (1 family). The off-limit areas are inaccessible and rented to other individuals who have criminal record clearances on file with the department. The required fire extinguisher 2A10BC serviced on 01/20/2020 and is overdue for service. There is carbon monoxide detector and smoke detector which are functional. LPA discussed firearms and ammunition, Ms. Alexander stated there are no guns and ammunition in the home or bodies of water on the premises. LPA did observe any bodies of water on the premises. Ms. Alexander has current Child, Infant and Adult CPR and First Aid is current (expires 08/24/2021).
LPA discussed the updated Regulations in regards to infant care with Licensee.

Licensee's AB1207 Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training expired 10/2020.


Licensee stated she needed to leave due to time limitations. Report to be emailed to Licensee for signature

According to CCR, Title 22, Division 12, the following Type B deficiencies are cited in regards to the Fire Extinguisher and AB 1207 Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training. Appeal Rights were reviewed. An exit interview was conducted with Licensee.

The home shall be free from defects or conditions which might endanger a child. Safety precautions shall include but not be limited .... The home shall contain a fire extinguisher...which meet standards established by the State Fire Marshal.

 This deficiency was evidenced by LPA's observation and review of the fire extinguisher tag which revealed it was serviced on 01/20/2020 and is overdue for service. This poses a risk to the Health, Safety, or Personal Rights risk to children in care.

1596.8662 (b) (1) Health and Safety - Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training: On or before March 30, 2018, a person who, on January 1, 2018, is a licensed child care provider...employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter training.

and shall complete renewal mandated reporter training every 2 years following the date on which he or she completed This requirement was not met as evidenced by the record review and interview which revealed the Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training expired 10/2020 and is required every 2 years. This poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care.
