25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Shannel Reed met with Teachers, Rebekah Pike and Tarini Kumar for an unannounced annual/random inspection. Ms. Pike informed LPA that the Site Director, Lara Hedlund, is not on site. LPA later spoke with Ms. Hedlund and she stated that she often works from home and that the facility does not have an onsite Director, and that she would not be able to be on site for the inspection. LPA continued the inspection with Teacher, Tarini Kumar.
The centers hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:30am -11:30pm and 12Pm -3PM. Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30AM – 11:00AM and 12:00PM -2:30 PM. The Preschool is located on site at Laurelwood Elementary school in rooms P1, and P2. LPA toured the Facility both inside and outside during todays visit. LPA observed the required posted materials, including the Facility License, Emergency Disaster Plan (LIC 610), Earthquake Preparedness Checklist (LIC 9148), Parents' Rights Poster (PUB 393), Personal Rights (LIC 613A), Child Car Seat Law (PUB 269), and Activity Schedule.
LPA observed that the teacher/adult to child ratio was in compliance during today’s visit with two teachers and five (5) “working parents” and 29 children. This is a parent involvement program. Ms. Kumar understands the conditions, limitations, and capacity specifications of the Facility license. The Ms. Kumar understands that children shall be visually supervised at all times and never left unattended.
A review of staff records indicates that all Facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.
LPA reviewed six (6) preschool teacher staff files. Five of the teachers are missing the required Mandated Reporter training.
