32 | OUTDOOR PLAY AREAS: The playground area of facility is located in front of the classroom and it's also the field used by the elementary school. The staff brings the children's water bottles with cups to keep the children hydrated and trees provide shade for children while at play.
RECORDS: All individuals subject to criminal record review have a clearance or exemption and have been associated to the facility. Four (4) children's files and one (1) staff file were reviewed around 10:30 AM. All staff files have required Health Screening, Criminal Records Statements, and Employee Rights and all children files contain Personal Rights, Identification & Emergency Info, and Medical Consent forms. LPA reviewed the facility roster and obtain a copy. Mandated Reporter Training was discussed, and certificates were reviewed. LPA conducted a census and census matches children signed in on the electronic system. Disaster drills are being conducted at least once every 6 months and the last one conducted was on 12/16/22. All required documents are posted in a public accessible area.
The following deficiencies were observed during today's inspection:
At 11:00 AM, LPA asked the facility representative about her CPR & first aid certificate and she replied that she and her staff were scheduled this week to take the course.
HEALTH RELATED SERVICES: IMS is being provided at this facility. LPA inspected the medication, which is stored in a safe place that is inaccessible to children in care. Each of the medications has an unaltered label with the child’s name and date of issuance. LPA reminded the representative that a refrigerator shall be used to store any medications that requires refrigeration. The center is equipped with fully stocked first aid kits that are available in the classrooms.
California Law requires Child Care Centers licensees to report unusual incidents or injuries to children in care to child's parents and to the Department of Social Services using the Unusual Incident/Injury form (LIC 624). Incidents must be reported within 24 hours by phone, fax, or electronic mail. Roster of the children must be properly maintained, and fire/disaster drill every six months must be documented.
This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records.
