25 | On 06/27/19 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Monica Mathur conducted an unannounced Annual inspection of the Infant Center at Happy Days Child Development Center. LPA met with Director, Marmen Mendoza and Operations Manager, Ty Bash and explained the purpose of today's visit. Facility’s License, Parents’ Rights Poster, Personal Rights, Activity Schedules, were observed to be posted in the Office area and Infant rooms 3 and 5. Facility's operating days and hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Room 3: 11 infants / 3 teachers [1 fully qualified, 2 aides]
Room 5: 9 infants / 3 teachers [1 fully qualified, 2 aides]
Facility was observed to be in compliance with teacher to infant ratio requirement during LPA's' inspection. Infants in both rooms were in the process of napping under the direct visual supervision of the teachers.
Indoor Space: The physical plant was inspected. LPA toured the building with the Director. Rooms and office area were inspected. Food and feeding bottles were labeled and stored safely. Food storage areas were clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. Trash cans for solid waste had tight-fitting covers on and were in good repair. Napping area had cribs and was cordoned off from the activity area by dividers. The infant changing table had raised sides that are at least 3 inches in height and had a vinyl changing pad that is at least 1 inch think and in good condition. Napping equipment was appropriate and in good condition. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other items that are dangerous to the health and safety of children were stored in places inaccessible to them. Cabinets, drawers, and rooms used for storage were locked. Floors were clean and free from tripping hazard. LPA observed a 2A10BC Fire extinguisher, Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors, fire pull stations, and sprinkler system Director stated that facility does not possess nor store any weapons on the premises
Outdoor Space: Outdoor activity space was inspected and observed to be safe. The play equipment was maintained in good condition and free of hazards. Areas around and under high climbing equipment and slides were cushioned with material that absorbs falls. There were no bodies of water observed. Drinking water is arranged to be readily available to infants during indoor and outdoor activities.
