Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Stephanie Collins, conducted an unannounced annual inspection of the Preschool. LPA met with Director Roopali Born and informed her the purpose of the visit.
LPA arrived at the facility at 9:10 AM . All required posting were observed Monday-Friday 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM. During inspection , LPA observed a ratio of 7 children to 3 staff.
Clearances for individuals at this facility who require caregiver background checks are issued by the State Department of Education and/or County Office of Education and do not come under the jurisdiction of Community Care Licensing Division.
LPA inspected the building inside and out with Director Roopali Born.
LPA observed that all required posting were posted. The head start is located in a separate portal on a functioning school site (Lyndal Elementary School). The head start’s classroom (s), restroom (s) for children to use and office area, storage area, food storage areas were inspected. Furniture and equipment were observed to be age appropriate and in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Restroom for children to use were observed to be in operating conditions. There is a separate staff rest room with one toilet and one sink. The center is equipped with an isolate and care area for any child who becomes ill during the day, isolation equipment is available.
Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons, sharps, and other items that are dangerous to children were stored inaccessible. Facility provides two meals (Breakfast and Lunch). Meals are prepared and packaged by the facility's "Kidango” , which is off site, and then delivered to the facility. LPA observed that food storage areas were clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. Foods and beverages were kept protected against contamination and spoilage. Trash cans for solid waste had tight-fitting covers on.
