25 | On 06/26/19 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Monica Mathur conducted an unannounced Annual inspection of YWCA Davidson. This program has a preschool with toddler option. LPA met with Director, Jeanine Rodriguez and Program Director, Lucille Gabriel and explained the purpose of today's visit. Facility’s License, Parents’ Rights Poster, Personal Rights, Activity Schedules, and Menus were observed to be posted. Facility's operating days and hours are Monday to Friday 7 AM to 6 PM in the Toddler and Preschool rooms. There are active waivers on file for shared usage of infant playground and outdoor space.
The physical plant was inspected. LPA toured the building with the Director.
Indoor space: The Toddler classroom and restroom was inspected. Toddlers share a common restroom with the infant side, separated by a half wall and have child size toilets and sink. Restroom was observed to be in safe, sanitary, and functioning condition. Floors were clean and free from tripping hazard. There were two toddler staff members with seven toddlers at the time of inspection. It was their napping time and each toddler was sleeping on their mat, under the visual supervision of the staff. Facility was observed to be in compliance with teacher to children ratio requirement during LPAs' inspection.
Preschool classroom: The Preschool classroom was inspected and LPA observed four staff members [two fully qualified and two aides] with 22 napping children. Preschool children have a separate restroom which was observed to be clean and sanitary. The kitchen, pantry, storage room, and office area were inspected. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other items that are dangerous to the health and safety of children were stored in places inaccessible to them. Cabinets, drawers, and rooms used for storage were locked. Furniture and equipment were age appropriate and in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Foods and beverages were stored safely. Food storage area were clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. Trash cans for solid waste had tight-fitting covers on and were in good repair. Director stated that facility does not possess nor store any weapons on the premises. LPA observed a 3A40BC Fire extinguisher, Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors, fire pull stations, and sprinkler system. Log shows that the last Fire Drill was conducted in May 2019. Facility does not provide transportation for children, but Director understands that children cannot be left alone, unattended in parked vehicles. |
