Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Cortney Nelson and Farida Raja, met with Assistant Director, Reyna Reyes, and explained pupose of visit- to open 10 day complaint investigation and deliver findings. Upon arrival, LPAs were admitted into the facility by Reyna and toured the inside of the infant/toddler classrooms.

At the end of the day, from approximately 5:30PM-6:00PM, non-mobile infants are brought to the big toddler room due to maintaining staff/child ratio. The toddler room is for mobile infants and does not have a dedicated crawling space. Non-mobile infants placed into the room are positioned with staff and crawl on rugs in the classroom that have been walked on by staff/children's shoes. LPAs observed that the carpets have debris from daily classroom use and staff advised that the carpets are vacummed at the end of the day once all the children have left.

Due to non-mobile infants being brought into the classroom, LPAs advised that the carpet utilized by them shall be cleaned to create a sanitary surface for infants to crawl. Carpets can be shaken to remove debris or the facility may consider bringing a carpet to be utilized specifically by non-mobile infants while they are present at the end of the day.

As a result of today's inspection, a deficiency was cited, see LIC809-D.

Exit interview conducted and the report was reviewed with the Assistant Site Director, Reyna Reyes.

Reyna states that an additional carpet will be purchased to be used for the non-mobile infants to crawl on while in the big toddler room at the end of the day. Carpet shall be purchased and proof will be submitted to the Department by 5/15/2024.

The staff did not ensure that the carpets were clean for crawling/non-mobile infants as they are placed onto surfaces where mobile infants and staff are walking and observed to have visible debris, which poses a potential risk to the health, safety, and personal rights of children in care.
