25 | LPA Janet Tse met with licensee Martha Cardoza for an annual/random inspection. LPA explained the nature of today’s visit to her. At arrival, LPA observed 14 children including two infants and four school age with licensee's assistants (EE and OM) in the home. Licensee was out running errands, and she returned to the home later during the inspection. Days and hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:30pm. The adults that reside in the home are Licensee, her husband, her two adult daughters, with a 16 1/2-year-old child.
A listing of staff criminal record clearances associated to this facility in the CCL Licensing Information System (LIS) on 07/02/2019 was reviewed; and it indicates that all Facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background clearances have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee understands upon notice of the Department to remove an individual from the home, or to exclude an individual from the home, the licensee shall immediately removes the individual and prevents them from returning to the home or having contact with children in care.
LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home during today’s inspection. LPA observed the home is clean and orderly, with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort of the children. LPA observed safe and sufficient materials, toys, and play equipment for the day care children. LPA observed in the children's bathroom a box of scrub with pre-loaded chlorox and a can of repair sealant underneath the bathroom sink, and shampoo in the lower shelf of the bathtub accessible to children. LPA observed a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher. LPA observed a working smoke detector and a functioning carbon monoxide detector. Licensee stated there are no weapons/firearms in the home. Off limit areas indoor: living room, dining room, master bedroom, master bathroom, and two bedrooms. LPA observed a fenced backyard and no bodies of water. LPA observed a bouncer in the backyard. Licensee stated that the bouncer is from a parent and is used by an infant. Off limit areas outdoor: fenced off area which includes a locked storage shed and a dog run. LPA observed two dogs in the dog run. Licensee stated the dogs are vaccinated.
