25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kate Huang met with Licensee, Yeh, Hsiu Mei for an unannounced annual inspection. Upon arrival, the licensee was not present; four assistants were supervising 8 children, including 2 infants. The licensee arrived later. Licensee stated that she was receiving back treatment when she was absent. LPA explained the purpose of today’s inspection to the licensee. The facility operates Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The licensee is the only adult residing in the home.
LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home with assistant, Sheu, Jiuling when licensee was absent during today’s inspection. Required posting materials were observed near the entrance of the home. LPA noted that there were sufficient materials, toys, and play equipment available for the daycare children. The home was clean, orderly, and well-organized. LPA observed loose blankets in the crib. The assistant stated that they used this loose blankets for one infant.
The home has central heating, cooling, and proper ventilation to ensure the comfort of the children. Indoor furniture and equipment were observed to be age-appropriate, in good condition, and free of sharp edges, loose parts, or pointed objects. No disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons, or other hazardous items were observed to be accessible to children.
The bathroom used by the children was in proper working condition, with clean and operable toilets and faucets. The facility’s outdoor area is enclosed with appropriate fencing. LPA observed that the outdoor play equipment is age-appropriate and in good condition.
LPA observed that the licensee, and one assistant have current CPR/First Aid certifications. Additionally, LPA noted a current roster of children and a fire and disaster drill log, which shows they conduct drill every 6 months.
LPA reviewed the files of five children present, as well as all staff's files. Two infants present do not have 15-minute sleep logs. All required documents for staff were present. Licensee and the assistant have immunization records. The facility has liability insurance.
