25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ashley Lopez arrived at Canyon Heights Academy and met with Director Marija Palihnic Fisher for an unannounced Required - 1 Year inspection. LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the Facility with the director during today's inspection. LPA observed the required posted materials, including the Facility License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Earthquake Preparedness Checklist, Parents' Rights Poster (PUB 393), Personal Rights (LIC 613A), and Child Car Seat Law (PUB 269). Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30am - 6:00pm. The facility is licensed to serve Preschool children and does include a toddler component.
LPA reviewed 5 preschool files and 5 toddler files files during today's inspection. Children’s Records were reviewed for completeness and Inspection of required forms was made. In review of children’s records, files contain information including: Name, address and telephone number of the child's authorized representative and of relatives or others who can assume responsibility for the child if the authorized representative cannot be reached when necessary. LPA reviewed 4 staff files, including the Director's during the inspection. All staff files reviewed contained the required transcripts, experience, immunization records, and Health Screening Report. All staff have current certificates of completion of the Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Workers on file. At least one staff member has current CPR and First Aid certification on file. Director understands that there shall be at least one person, with valid CPR and First Aid certifications, on site at all times or present during off-site activities.
LPA observed that the teacher/child ratio was in compliance during today's inspection. The facility has 3 Preschool classrooms, and 1 Toddler classroom. The director understands the conditions, limitations, and capacity specifications of the facility license. She stated that children are visually supervised at all times. The facility uses an electronic sign in/out app called Hi Mama, which is also how staff keeps parents up to date throughout the day. The 15 minute nap checks for the toddlers under 2 years of age is also conducted on the Hi Mama app. The director states that when a preschool child becomes ill they either isolate the child in the main office and contact parents immediately. She states that when a toddler becomes ill they will isolate the child in the staff office and contact parents immediately.
