On September 30, 2021 at approximately 8:50am, LPA Haderer arrived unannounced for an annual inspection for compliance to Health and Safety. The new CARE tool was used for the inspection. Present at the facility today was the site director Marilyn Graves, the inspection was conducted with the Operations Manager Khalilah Rasheed, 17 staff members and 49 infants/toddlers in care. The center operates on the property with an additional licensed preschool center 434408861. The hours of operation are 8:45 AM to 5:15PM.

The child care center operates on a large former elementary school converted to a daycare center. There are 10 classrooms dedicated to the infant and toddler school. LPA observed that all classrooms are clean and safe for all children and staff. Children have bottles for formula and breastmilk available to them. Bottles are kept in the refrigerators in each classroom labeled with each child’s name and dated.

The facility is clean and well organized with ample age appropriate furnishings and equipment. Surfaces including floors and counter tops are clean and toxic free. There were no hazardous items/toxins observed to be accessible to children in care today. There are no bodies of water accessible to children in care.

LPA observed solid waste containers with tight-fitting lids in each room. Each classroom has a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, the last annual inspection was done 8/6/2021. Carbon monoxide detectors were tested and working. The smoke alarms are built into the fire system and tested by Google’s Environmental Health and Safety team which completed the last comprehensive test on August 17, 2021 (documentation in file). Heating and ventilation was acceptable. Disaster drills are conducted every month, the last drill was conducted August 17, 2021.

There is one children’s bathroom with toilets and handwashing sinks in each classroom. For infants that need diaper changes, there are changing tables in each classroom’s bathroom within one arm length of the sink. There are also additional sinks available in each classroom with hot and cold water taps. All sinks have functioning water taps with appropriate hand washing signs. There are enough towels and soap supplies. All toilets, handwashing and cleaning areas are in safe and sanitary operating condition.

LPA observed sufficient bedding for the infants (they sleep on mats on the floor, there are emergency cribs located outside in case of emergency). Operations manager stated that bed sheets were taken home and washed each day. Classrooms have trash cans with tight fitting cover for the disposal of solid waste. Staff and children's bathrooms are clean, sanitary, and operable. There were separate staff bathrooms in the office not utilized by the children which an isolated sick child can use if needed. Operations manager stated that there are no weapons or firearms on the premises.

The facility provides lunch and snacks to the children via Google food service. Food is prepared by Google’s central kitchen and delivered to the campus for distribution. Food on campus was not expired and, whole milk available for the infants. The food preparation and storage areas are clean, free of litter & rubbish, and free of rodents and other vermin. All food and beverages that require refrigeration are stored in covered containers at 36 degrees F. Cleaning supplies are inaccessible to the children and stored in high cabinets inaccessible to children in each of the classroom.

Any medications at the facility are stored in each of the classroom in the first aid backpack. There were some expired medications found in the backpacks. Infant sleeping plans were available for all infants under the age of 12 months, sleeping logs were available and maintained for conducting 15-minute checks on sleeping infants up to 24 months.

The playground is in safe condition and free from sharp, loose or pointed parts and the areas around or under high climbing equipment has appropriate rubber cushioned material that absorbs a fall and enclosed within the school property, surrounded by a fence. Ample shade is available for the children in the play areas and teachers are always present. Personal water bottles travel with the children to the outside area, all water bottles are labeled with each child’s first and last names.
