25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Pete Hernandez, conducted an Required 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Lead Teacher, Jennifer Cortez, and explained the nature of today's inspection. The world of Discovery is located on the Argonaut Elementary School. LPA observed all the required posted materials including the facility license, Notification of Parents' Rights form, Emergency Disaster Plan (LIC 610), Personal Rights, Earthquake Preparedness Checklist (LIC 9148), and activity schedule. There were 20 preschoolers inspection and three staff at the time of the LPA's visit .
LPA toured the facility both inside and outside. The classrooms are clean. Staff and children's bathrooms are sanitary and operable. The teacher child ratio was in compliance during today's inspection. Site Director has a current CPR and First Aid certification that expires ion 5.20.2022. LPA observed functioning Fire extinguishers, 2A10BC, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. LPA reviewed ten random children's files and four staff files. Cleaning products are stored in a locked cabinet in the Big Room. LPA observed trash cans with tight fitting lid for the disposal of solid waste. LPA reviewed the sign in/out sheets and children's roster. Site Director states there are no weapons on the premises.
The playground area utilized by children is surrounded by appropriate fencing and the outdoor surfaces are safe. LPA observed rubberized resilient material in the playground area. LPA did not observe any bodies of water.
A review of staff records during today's inspection indicates that all Facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. LPA advised Site Director of the applicable civil penalties for those adults who have not received fingerprint clearances, are not associated to the license and who come in contact with or provide care and supervision to the children. Penalty amounts: $100.00 per person per day, minimum of $100.00 to a maximum of $500.00 per person for an initial violation and a minimum of $100.00 to a maximum of $3000.00 per person for any subsequent violation within a 12 month period.
