Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Pete Hernandez, conducted an Required 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Director Teri Fogarty, and explained the nature of today's inspection. The World of Discovery is located on the Argonaut Elementary School. LPA observed all the required posted materials including the facility license, Notification of Parents' Rights form, Emergency Disaster Plan (LIC 610), Personal Rights, Earthquake Preparedness Checklist (LIC 9148), and activity schedule. There were 33 preschoolers inspection and Five staff including the Director at the time of the LPA's visit .

Facility has one waiver: Waiver for allowing sick children to share a bathroom.

LPA toured the facility both inside and outside. The classrooms are clean. Staff and children's bathrooms are sanitary and operable. The teacher child ratio was in compliance during today's inspection. Teacher Jennfier Cortz has a current CPR / 1st Aid card that expires 11/6/20/23. LPA observed functioning Fire extinguishers, 2A10BC, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and fire pull stations. Cleaning products are stored in a locked cabinet in the Big Room. LPA observed trash cans with tight fitting lid for the disposal of solid waste. LPA reviewed the sign in/out sheets and children's roster. A copy of the children's roster was provided to the LPA. Site Director states there are no weapons on the premises.

The playground area utilized by children is surrounded by appropriate fencing and the outdoor surfaces are safe. LPA observed rubberized resilient material in the playground area. LPA did not observe any bodies of water.

CONTINUATION OF PREVIOUS PAGE (PAGE #1 - REPORT DATED 09/19/2022):
A review of staff records during today's inspection indicates that all Facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. LPA advised Site Director of the applicable civil penalties for those adults who have not received fingerprint clearances, are not associated to the license and who come in contact with or provide care and supervision to the children. Penalty amounts: $100.00 per person per day, minimum of $100.00 to a maximum of $500.00 per person for an initial violation and a minimum of $100.00 to a maximum of $3000.00 per person for any subsequent violation within a 12 month period.

LPA advised Site Director on the requirements of AB 633, new car seat law, immunization's needed before starting preschool, and healthy beverages in child care.

Fire Drills are conducted every 6 months. The last log entry was 8/30/2022.

Jennifer Cortez, Teacher and back up Director, has a current CPR /1st Aid card that expires 11/6/20/23.

Water is available to the children indoors and outdoors at all times during operating hours.

Children bring their own lunches and snacks from home.

The facility cleaned and disinfected daily by a third party after school hours.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS,and currently has children enrolled with IMS needs. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. LPA conducted an exit interview with the Site Director prior to the conclusion of today's inspection and advised the Site Director of the required "mandated reporter" training for AB 1207 requirement for Child Care Providers that all staff must complete within 90 days of commencing employment at the Facility. LPA Hernandez reviewed 10 Children's files and 5 Staff Files and all required documentation was in their respective files.

TYPE A language: Should there ever be issuance of Type A citations today, a copy of the Facility Evaluation Report LIC809 has to be posted on the wall and a copy to be given to all parents of currently and newly enrolled children for next 12 months. In addition, copy of LIC9224 Statement Acknowledging Receipt of Licensing Reports need to be signed and kept in child files.

A deficiency is NOT being cited based on the LPA observation, interviews conducted, and record review in accordance with the California Code of Regulations, Title 22. An exit interview was conducted and reviewed with the Licensee. A copy of this report was discussed and left with the Licensee, Teri Fogarty, whose signature on this form confirm receipt of these documents.

A NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS ISSUED, POSTED NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO THE FACILITY, AND MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS.
