Storage areas for poisons are locked. All materials and surfaces accessible to children are toxic free. Medication is stored in a locked file cabinet in the front office and is inaccessible to children. Children’s toilets and hand washing appears in safe and sanitary operating conditions. There is a separate staff bathroom not utilized by the children which an isolated child can use if needed. Floors appear clean and safe. Furniture and equipment is age appropriate and in good condition free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas are clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. All food is in the kitchen and are current, protected from contamination, and director states that contaminated food is discarded immediately. Trash cans for solid waste have tight-fitting covers on, and are in good repairs. The facility provides lunch and snacks as well as gives option for children to bring their own. Each child bring their own water bottle to the facility and drinking water is also readily available for the children in each room via water container and in the outdoor playground area via child's own water bottles. Foods or beverages that are perishable are stored in covered containers at 45 (F) or less. Playground equipment appears to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Outdoor activity space appears to be in a safe condition and free of hazards. Playground has rubberized resilient material under the climbing structures and slides.
LPA discussed AB 2231: Civil Penalty Updates effective July 1, 2017 with director. A $500 immediate civil penalty and $100 per day violation until corrected is assessed for serious violations such as absence of supervision, accessible bodies of water, accessible firearms, refused entry of licensing staff, presence of an excluded person, and violations that result in illness or injury. A $100 per day for each violation for Failure to Correct, and $250 immediately and $100 per day per violation until corrected for Repeat Violations.
LPA observed staffs have all the immunization records in file per SB 792 Immunization Requirements. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) were discussed with director. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) were discussed with director. The facility provides Epinephrine Auto-Injector IMS and IMS, Service plan is on file. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records including: Written Authorization from the child’s physician and parent consent for administration of medical service, and administered logs/records. Medication, supplies and equipment of medication were in the original labeled container with the child’s name on it and were not expired. LPA discussed Beginning January 1, 2018, Health and Safety Code 1596.8662 requires all licensed providers, applicants, directors and employees to complete training as specified on their mandated reporter duties and to renew their training every two years. The training web site is available at: http://www.mandatedreporterca.com, LPA observed all the staff has completed their training and certifications are kept in each staff's file.
No deficiency was cited. LPA conducted an exit interview with Director prior to the conclusion of today's inspection. A NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS ISSUED, POSTED NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO THE FACILITY, AND MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS. |
