25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mel Matos met with Isabelle Chappuis, Licensee, for an unannounced Required – 1 year annual inspection. LPA was granted access to the home by the Licensee. LPA also observed Licensee's spouse (Duc Nguyen) and eight preschool children in the home during today's inspection. Licensee was operating within her capacity and ratio requirements. Licensee states that she enrolls children 2 years to entry into Kindergarten. LPA observed the required postings, including the facility license, near the front entrance to the day care. Days and hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The adults residing in the home are: Licensee & Licensee's spouse (Duc Nguyen). Licensee has a 17 year old daughter residing in the home.
LPA reviewed a current Child Care Facility Roster and Fire/Disaster drill log during today's inspection. The last fire/disaster drill was completed on January 5, 2023. Licensee states that she does not have liability insurance for the day care and issues the Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance - Family Child Care Home (LIC 282) to all enrolled families. Licensee has current CPR and First Aid certifications. Licensee has the required vaccines (MMR, Tdap, & flu - opt out) and is current with her Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Workers (exp: 07/08/2023). LPA reviewed six children's files and the files were complete with the required forms. LPA reviewed one staff file (Licensee) and the file was complete with the required forms. Licensee states that a child will be isolated in the dining room area if necessary due to illness or communicable disease.
LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home during today's inspection. Licensee has a working telephone in the home. The home is clean, orderly, (including central heating/air conditioning/ventilation), and safe for the day care children. There are safe and age appropriate toys, play equipment, and materials for the children in the home. LPA did not observe any wall heaters units, fireplace units, or stairs inside the home. Off limit areas in the home: master bedroom, master bathroom, two bedrooms, and attached garage. Off limit areas outside the home: locked storage sheds and left side area of the backyard.
LPA observed a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, working smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, no bodies of water, and fenced backyard. The Licensee states that she does not have any weapons or pets in the home. All detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other similar items are stored inaccessible to children. Any poisons are locked and inaccessible to the day care children. |
