Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Ashley Lopez and Licensing Program Manager, Joel Segura conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection. LPA met with Director, Adidi Bouzida and office manager, Aziz Bouzida, who guided LPA and LPM on a tour of the facility indoors and outdoors. The school consists of 3 of classrooms, B1, B2, and C. This program operates Hours from 7:30am - 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. This facility has a capacity of 45 children; preschool children ages 2 to 6 years old. Teacher-child ratio was met during today's visit. All individuals present have obtained a criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption. All children were observed to be always under visual supervision of a teacher.

LPA observed the required postings and fire drill log. The last fire drill was conducted on 5/24/23. LPA and LPM observed the facility to be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair. LPA observed 2 fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers. Furniture and equipment were inspected for good repair, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Indoor classrooms were inspected to ensure that the floors have a surface that is safe and clean. The facility has a cleaning service that is provided by the Church CPUMC. All toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. The office is used as an isolation area and the parents are contacted immediately when they are feeling ill.

Preschoolers bring their lunches from home and the facility provides AM and PM Snack. Children bring their water bottles from home and filtered water is provided if needed. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers on and are in good repair. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children are stored in high cupboards and are inaccessible to children.

Facility has a central fire system and has functioning smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector that meets statutory requirements. Outdoor play equipment was observed to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Outdoor activity space surface is maintained in a safe condition as is free of hazards. Shade is provided by trees and building awning. LPA and LPM did not observe any bodies of water during this visit. LPA advised the office manager that areas around and/or under climbing equipment and slides need more resilient material for a soft cushioning to absorb a fall. Office manager states they plan to refill the resilient material and sand box before the start of the school year.

Sign in and out sheets were reviewed by LPA to ensure that children who are present were signed in. Parents sign children in and out daily, teachers in the classroom also have a sign in sheet for them to have a count of the children. Children’s Records were reviewed and were complete; Inspection of required forms was made. In review of children’s records, files contain information including, but not limited to the following: Name, address and telephone number of the child's authorized representative and of relatives or others who can assume responsibility for the child if the authorized representative cannot be reached when necessary. All staff files reviewed contain the required transcripts, immunization records, and Health Screening Report. All staff have current certificates of completion of the Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Workers on file. There is at least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid present during this inspection.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of “medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. LPA advised office manager to have the child's parent replace the medication.

SB792 (Immunization Requirements for Staff and Employees) was discussed with the facility representative. AB1207 Mandated Child Abuse Reporting – On or before March 30, 2018 any person who works in a child care facility shall complete the training and renew the training every 2 years. At this time, there were no deficiencies cited during today’s inspection.
