On Friday, March 11, 2022 at 8:45 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Manel Estoesta conducted an unannounced Required 1 Year Visit. LPA met with the new Director Zaineb Alkhafaji and explained the nature of site visit. Present on this visit were 5 staff member and 24 preschool children. Facility operates from Monday to Friday 8:30am to Noon.

LPA toured the facility to conduct a Health and Safety Inspection with the Director Zaineb Alkhafaji. The facility has 2 active waivers for the Authorized Sign In/Out and Indoor Activity Space. The facility have 2 classrooms, namely Penguin and Dolphin. The classrooms and indoor play are were age appropriate and in good repair. Bathrooms were clean and in working order. There is a separate staff bathroom. Snacks are provided and prepared on site. The kitchen area was maintained in a clean manner and was inaccessible to children in care. Waste containers have tight fitting lids. The storage room was observed. The sign in and out logs were reviewed. Firearms and other weapons are not being stored on the premises. All posting requirements are being met. Indoor play area was free of hazards and children have access to drinking water. Play area equipment is cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. There are no bodies of water. The facility has a carbon monoxide detector, charged fire extinguishers and first aid kits. LPA reviewed the current Fire Department Inspection document that will expire on 12/31/2022. Fire and disaster drills are being conducted monthly. There is a working telephone at the facility. At least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid is present. Medications, when dispensed, are inaccessible to children and follow the IMS Plan of Operation.

Personnel files were reviewed today. The teacher/child ratio is being met. A percentage of children's files were reviewed at 10AM.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

As a result of this inspection, there are no deficiencies cited during today's inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
