25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPA), Pete Hernandez conducted an unannounced Required 1 Year inspection at the home today with Kristina Tan. Also, present 2 Assistants and 1 Infant, 2 school-age children and 11 preschoolers. Licensee was present to ensure the supervision of 14 day care children, Licensee lives in the home with her spouse and 3 minor children. LPA inspected the home and observed a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, working smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, and fire pull station. LPA observed no bodies of water, barricaded fireplace and fenced backyard. LPA observed all the required postings on the wall of the children's play room. Days and hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00PM.
LPA reviewed a current roster. LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home. The Licensee has a working telephone in the home. LPA observed sufficient materials, toys, and play equipment for the day care children. The home is clean, orderly, and safe for the day care children. LPA did not observe any wall heaters inside the home. There are no stairs inside the home. Off limit areas in the home include the garage, all 4 bedrooms and storage shed and both gated side yards. Licensee states that there are no weapons in the home. LPA advised the Licensee that poisons need to be locked. Cleaning products, medications, sharp objects and other similar items are to be stored inaccessible to children. LPA informed Licensee that smoking, baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers and similar items are not allowed in family child care homes. There were no visible bodies of water on the property. The Licensee will talk to the children and will use redirection as forms of discipline.
The Licensee understands that children's personal rights should not be violated; including no corporal punishment. Isolation of sick children, supervision of children, capacity options, transportation of children, requirements for reporting suspected child abuse, unusual incidents/injuries, and requirements for assistant/substitute were discussed. LPA informed Licensee that fire/disaster drills must be practiced at least once every 6 months and documented and last entry was 12/9/22.
