25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mel Matos met with Shazia Soroya, Licensee, for unannounced annual/random inspection. LPA also observed the Licensee's adult sister, who was visiting the home today, and five children (3 infants, 1 preschool, and Shazia's 4 year old nephew) in the home during today's inspection. Days and hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The adults that reside in the home are the Licensee and her spouse. The Licensee also has two minor daughters, ages 14 & 7 years, residing in the home. The Licensee and her adult assistant's have valid CPR and First Aid certifications which expire in November 2019. The Licensee states that she and her adult assistant are in process of renewing their CPR & First Aid certifications.
LPA reviewed a current Child Care Facility Roster and Fire/Disaster drill log during today's inspection. The last fire/disaster drill was completed on September 9, 2019. LPA reviewed five children's files and observed current and updated immunization records and the Family Child Care Home Notification of Parents' Rights forms (LIC 995A) in each file. The Licensee and her adult assistant completed the Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Workers in March 2019. LPA reminded the Licensee that the Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Workers must be taken every two years.
LPA toured the indoor and outdoor areas of the home during today's inspection. The Licensee has a working telephone in the home. LPA observed sufficient materials, toys, and play equipment for the day care children. The home is clean, orderly, and safe for the day care children. LPA did not observe any wall heaters inside the home. There are no stairs inside the home. Off limit areas inside the home: one bedroom, barricaded fireplace (located in the living room), and furnace closet. Off limit areas outside the home: detached garage, and left/right areas of the backyard.
LPA observed a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, working smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, fenced backyard, and no bodies of water. The Licensee states that she does not have any pets and weapons in the home. All detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other similar items are inaccessible to children.
