32 | Outdoor space was measured to ensure that there is at least 75 square feet of outdoor activity space per child based on the total licensed capacity.
Outdoor Activity Space Measurements are as follows:
Outdoor Activity Space = (3,019.305 sq. ft.) – (Encumbered)
= (3,019.305 sq. ft.) – (105.913 sq. ft.)
= 2,913.392 sq. ft.
Total Outdoor Activity Space = (2,913.392 sq. ft.) divided by (75 sq. ft. / child) = 38 Children
The children’s restroom has two toilets and two sinks. There are two sinks in the classroom. LPAs observed soap dispenser and disposable towels in the restroom. Only the sink in the Kitchen has hot water. There is a designated staff restroom that will also be used by children who are ill. The Office will serve as an isolation area for children who are ill and has equipment for children to rest. LPAs observed that Facility has toys, furniture, and equipment for the children to use. There were three tables, at least 27 chairs, and 28 cubbies present. The facility has cots for children to use for napping.
The outdoor activity space is enclosed with fencing and is physically separated from space used by other programs. The space is equipped with a variety of age-appropriate toys and equipment such as a play structure. Playground equipment has rubber padding used as resilient material. Shade is provided by building overhang. Facility has water fountains indoor and outdoor and has igloo to ensure that drinking water is available to children. Director stated that the facility will not be providing transportation.
Facility will provide Breakfast, Lunch, and an afternoon Snack. Meals and Snacks will be prepared at an off-site, centralized location, and will be delivered to the facility. Facility has a Kitchen equipped with refrigerator, microwave, oven, and stove to store, heat, and/or cool the food as needed. LPAs observed container used for storage of solid wastes has tight-fitting cover on. Detergents, cleaning compounds, sharps, medicines, and other items which could pose a danger if readily available to children are stored where they are inaccessible to children in care. Storage room and Laundry room on site were locked. At the end of the day, facility will receive janitorial service provided by East Side Union High School District. |
