25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Stephanie Collins conducted an announced pre-licensing / Re- location inspection. LPA met with Deevena Choppala Licensee, and explained the nature of today's inspection. The people that reside in the home are the Licensee, her husband ( Prabhakar Chooppala,) and son (Lauren Choppala). No children in care during todays inspection.
Days and hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:45 PM. Licensee complies with the requirement for the 16- hour health preventative training. Licensee certification for CPR and First Aid is current and expires September 9 2021, Licensee owns the home and proof of control of property is on file. Licensee has Affidavit Regarding Liability Insurance form to inform parents that she does not carry day-care insurance.
LPA toured the home. Off limit areas in the home: garage and all bedrooms and Living room. There are no off limit areas in backyard. Backyard is fully fenced. LPA observed a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, barricade (child safety gate separate the kitchen from family-room. A working smoke detector and working carbon monoxide detector were tested and found functioning. No no bodies of water observed. Licensee states that there are no weapons in the home. Cleaning products, medications, sharp objects and other similar items are inaccessible to children. LPA reminded Licensee that smoking, baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers and similar items are not allowed in family child care homes.
Licensee will be talking to the children and will be using redirection as forms of discipline. Licensee understands that children's personal rights should not be violated; including no corporal punishment. Isolation of sick children, supervision of children, capacity options, transportation of children, requirements for reporting suspected child abuse, unusual incidents/injuries, heat-related illnesses, and requirements for assistant/substitute were also discussed. LPA informed Licensee that fire/disaster drills must be practiced at least once every 6 months and documented.
