32 | Facility will provide Meals and Snacks for the school-age children. Meals and Snacks will be stored and prepared at the facility center kitchen in building 4 near the Director's office. LPA observed the Kitchen was equipped with refrigerator, microwave, oven, and stove to store, heat, and/or cool the food as needed. Menu was posted. Containers used for storage of solid wastes have tight-fitting cover on. Detergents, cleaning compounds, sharps, medicines, and other items which could pose a danger if readily available to children are stored where they are inaccessible to children. Storage/Maintenance rooms were locked. Facility has janitorial service at the end of each day.
Director Kanika Sanchez meets Director’s Educational Qualification requirement. There is at least one staff with current certification for preventive health practices training, which included current pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation and pediatric first aid certification. Director maintains documentation of immunity against Measles and Pertussis and required training. Director and applicant's Background Check Clearance has been transferred to the school-age Center. LPA received all other employee criminal background clearance transfer requests on site.
LPA reminded Applicant of the applicable civil penalties for those adults who have not received fingerprint clearances, are not associated to the license, and who come in contact with or provide care and supervision to the children. For an initial violation, civil penalty amounts to $100.00 per person up to $500.00 per person. For a subsequent violation within a 12-month period, civil penalty amounts to $100.00 per person up to $3000.00 per person.
This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services – IMS. For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual – Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. A Plan of Operation that includes IMS has been submitted to the Department. The department has received a fire inspection approval from the San Jose Fire Department on 12/24/2019.
LPA received an updated application on site during today's inspection.
Exit interview was conducted, where this report was reviewed and discussed with Applicant and informed her that a license for 52 school-age children is now pending on management approval. |
