An Unannounced random visit made by Analyst Mahvash Behbood. Met Site Director Maria Alvarez. Maria Rocha, Health Services Supervisor arrived during visit. Present also were 16 infants/toddlers and 5 staff. Operation is seasonal from May to Oct yearly. During the season, operation hours is M-F from 6 AM to 6 PM. Indoor and outdoor of the facility was toured.
Clearances for individuals at this facility who require caregiver background checks are issued by State Department and/or County Office of Education and do not come under the jurisdiction of Community Care Licensing Division.
Menu, licenses, Personal Rights, Car Seat Poster & Parent's Rights are all posted. Staff files were reviewed & all staff are qualified Infant Teachers. Several Teachers have current pediatric 1st aid/CPR. Teacher/infant ratio was met during the visit. A sampling of children's files were reviewed & are complete. Needs & Services plans are up to date. 1st aid supplies are complete. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services (IMS). LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment /supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel and administrative records. Changing tables are within arms reach of a sink, have raised sides & a vinyl pad. Changing tables have spray bottles with disinfectant solution. Younger infants nap in cribs. Older infants nap on cots. Infants have age appropriate toys/equipment including feeding chairs. Bottles & food for infants are labeled. Drinking water is provided by cups/water fountain for older infants. Center provides breakfast, snacks & lunch and formula for all infants. The menu is posted & has the required food groups. Kitchen appears clean. All food is covered & there is a trash can with a tight-fitting cover. Meals delivers daily from PVUSD Food-Nutrition Services' main kitchen. All infants were visually supervised during the visit. Infant/toddler playgrounds have rubber matting & grass areas, sand box. Shades provided by trees and large canopies. Sign in and out sheets were review. Effect of lead exposure poster was provided to licensee and for their information and to share with children. Discussed also was safe sleep.
No deficiency cited today.
