32 | The licensee was reminded that children showing signs of illness should be separated from others until it is determined whether they are contagious. They must remain separated until they are no longer infectious or are picked up.
LPA toured the facility, indoor off-limit areas included all of second floor which is secured from children (entrance to second floor is through bedroom which is off limits) and door is closed, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The licensee was providing care in a safe and comfortable environment, ensuring that children were treated appropriately and were free from any form of punishment or mistreatment. The home was clean, well ventilated, and has safe toys, play equipment and materials. A fully charged 3A-40B-C fire extinguisher, last serviced 11/16/24, is available, along with working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and an operating telephone. All hazardous items, such as poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, and medicines were kept out of children’s reach. The home was free of any defects or dangers that could harm a child. Licensee confirmed that there are no firearms, guns, or ammunition present, and smoking is prohibited. Additionally baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers, and similar items are not allowed.
Outdoor off limit areas include: cottage, storage, BBQ Area, and studio. Licensee is aware that outdoor play areas must either be fenced or that outdoor play must be supervised by the licensee. The yard is fenced and has age-appropriate toys for the children such customized playhouse, sandbox, play tables and appropriate toys.. The licensee was reminded to notify licensing before making any changes to the house or yard.
Licensee CPR/First Aid expired 10/15/25 with mandatory training expires 9/24/26. The preventative health certificate is on file. All assistants have their CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter certificates as listed in LIC857 and the preventative healthcare files are also on files for all staff. LPA reminded the licensee of the two-year renewal requirement.
The facility roster and eight children’s files were reviewed, confirming all required forms were complete, including the affidavit regarding liability insurance (LIC 282) that state that the parent has been informed that the family child care home does not carry liability insurance or a bond.
