25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elizabeth Berumen met with Licensee, Olga Fernandez for an annual inspection and explained the reason for the visit to her. Present during today's visit were licensee and four day care children (4 preschoolers). Adults living in the home are licensee, her adult son (Ronaldo Garcia) and 13 year old son.
A listing of staff criminal record clearances associated to this facility in the CCL Licensing Information System (LIS) on 12/15/21 was reviewed and it indicates that all Facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background clearances have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA inspected inside and outside of the home. Days and hours of operation will be from Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Licensee has current CPR & First Aid, expiring January 30, 2023 Home is clean, orderly and safe for children. LPA observed sufficient materials, toys, and play equipment for the day care children. Off limit areas inside the home is one bedroom (adult's son room) and bathroom. Licensee uses the bathroom in her bedroom for day care children. There is a gate barricading the entrance to off limit bathroom and bedroom. The laundry room is off limits; door is closed and locked today. Off limit areas in the backyard are the fenced side area to the right of the backyard and a locked shed. LPA observed that there is a stairway that leads to the backyard; the stairs in yard are barricaded. LPA observed a 3A40BC fire extinguisher. The smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and proved to be functioning. Olga stated that there are no weapons in the home. Licensee stated they do not transport children, LPA reminded Licensee that children are never to be left in parked vehicles and must use appropriate car seats according to the child's age/weight/size.
