25 | An annual inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Chris Krogstad and Pati Pacheco. LPAs met with the facility director, Denise Killgore. The facility file was reviewed prior to this visit. A review of the personnel report on 6/18/19 indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.
The facility’s operating hours are 7am - 5:45pm, Monday-Friday. This is a combination preschool/school-aged center. The facility was toured inside and outside and the floor and yard plan submitted by the licensee were verified. The preschool and school-aged programs operate in separate classrooms with separate play yards. The items which could pose a danger to children (such as detergents, cleaning compounds and medications) were observed to be stored in a latched storage cabinet in the classroom which is inaccessible to children. The director stated poisons are locked in the church's janitorial closet. The toys, floors, desks and other equipment and surfaces are clean, toxic free, safe and in good condition. There is uncontaminated drinking water available to children indoors and outdoors via drinking fountains. The children's bathrooms are in safe and sanitary condition. There is a shared bathroom waiver on file to allow the school-aged children to use the preschool restrooms with separation ensured via supervision. Food prep areas are clean. Food is properly stored and refrigerated as needed. The center provides AM/PM snack. Sack lunches are brought from home. There was no contaminated food observed. Garbage cans containing solid waste have tight fitting lids. LPAs observed a working carbon monoxide detector in the facility. There is a separate school-aged play yard. The playground was free of hazards. The playground equipment and surface areas were in safe condition. There is wood chips to provide cushioning underneath climbing structure to absorb falls. There were no swimming pools or other bodies of water observed on the property. The director stated no weapons are stored on site and none were observed. During today's inspection, 13 school aged children were observed in care playing in the outside play yard, supervised by two teachers. Capacity and ratio requirements were being met. |
