13 | On 5/01/23 at approximately 9:30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) N. Cunningham conducted an unannounced complaint inspection and met with Licensee Sallinen. It was alleged the licensee did not prevent a day care child from biting other children in care and Licensee does not provide adequate supervision to day care children. The Licensee was interviewed on 2/9/23 and stated there was an isolated biting issue between two children (Child 2 and Child 3) but denied that it was due to lack of supervision. On 1/31/23, the licensee reported to CCL that she recently terminated care for two families. The licensee stated that they tried different things such as reading books, biting necklace, and shadowing but ended up terminating care because they thought that was best. LPA interviewed three parents on 4/27/23 and 4/28/23 in regard to the allegations. It was stated by three out of three parents that there were no concerns regarding lack of supervision, and it was stated by three out of three parents that there have been biting incidents but parents felt that the licensee handled the incident appropriately. It was stated by two children (Child 5 and Child 6) that no children bite. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, and the findings are unsubstantiated. An exit interview was conducted, and appeal rights were provided. The Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 days. |
