25 | An unannounced case management visit was made to the facility today by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Y. Yang to provide technical assistance to the facility regarding the Department’s COVID mitigation guidelines, protocols, and best practices. This is a combination center with an infant, preschool, and school-age license. During today’s visit, the LPA met with the center director Alicia Wright. A facility tour was provided by the center director.
The LPA reviewed the facility’s health-related services policy, daily inspection for illness protocol, and the facility’s cleaning procedures. The California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) “Guidance for Child Care Providers and Programs” guide was reviewed as well. The center director was reminded that childcare providers must ensure compliance with the current CDPH Guidance for the Use of Masks. As of June 15, 2021, the use of face coverings is required by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) in childcare indoor settings regardless of vaccination status for all staff members and children over two that are not sleeping or eating.
Physical distancing is an infection control best practice that may be implemented as an additional safety layer between groups of children and staff to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Providers should consider continuing to implement stable groups as a best practice. There shall be no commingling between the different licenses at the facility. The center director was reminded that childcare programs must exclude or isolate any child or staff showing symptoms of a contagious disease or illness as required pursuant to Title 22 in CCR sections 101216(h), 101226.1(a)(1) and 102417(e). It is important to know the difference between cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting and when to do each in order to maintain a healthy childcare environment and the well-being of children in care. The CDC’s guide to “Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Facility” was reviewed with the center director.
During today’s visit, the LPA observed that the facility was implementing guidance from the CDPH’s “Guidance for Child Care Providers and Programs” guide. No ill children or staff members were observed at the facility. The LPA observed the center director conducting wellness checks at the facility’s main entrance.
There were no Title 22 deficiencies cited during today’s inspection visit. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility's director, Alicia Wright.
