25 | A tele-visit prelicensing inspection was made by Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Y. Yang and E. Hernandez Torres in response to an application received by the Department on 08/27/19 requesting a preschool license for a capacity of 90. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a tele-visit was made in place of an in-person, site visit. A follow-up, in-person site visit will be conducted by LPAs at a later time to inspect the facility and to measure the facility's square footage for the requested capacity.
LPAs spoke to licensee Penny Bowers and center director Alexandria "Aly" Bowers. The approved fire clearance for the requested capacity was received on 04/02/2020. Operating hours will be Mon-Fri, 7:00am-5:30pm year-round. The applicant is requesting a capacity of 90 children. The final approved capacity may be amended if there is not sufficient interior space available. The staff restroom and the director's office have been designated as the isolation area. The required postings (Parents/Personal Rights, Emergency Disaster Plan, etc.) will be posted by the main sign in/out table. Individual storage space is available for children to use. The sign-in and sign-out procedure will be completed electronically; a paper log book is available to use as well in case of technology failure. The applicant understands that full parent/guardian signatures are required on sign in/out logs; initials are not permitted. There are six toilets, one urinal, and six sinks available for children's use. Drinking water fountains are available inside the facility and drinking water will be made available outside on the playground via water coolers. The applicant stated that there is central air and heating inside the facility. Poisons are not stored on the premises; poisons shall be locked via key or combination. There is a working smoke detector, fire extinguisher and carbon monoxide detector in the facility. Items that could pose a danger to children (cleaning compounds, medication, etc) will be made inaccessible to the children in care. Children will nap on cots and/or mats. There will be sufficient napping equipment available. The facility will provide AM/PM snacks and hot lunch. Food will be brought in from off-site.
