25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Glenn Ouye met with Licensee Helena Geng and Director Janie Welsh to conduct a prelicensing visit of this combination center. The application is for a preschool and infant license. The fire inspection is has not been completed at this point however the local fire inspector is coordinating with the contractor and the building department on the finalization of open building permits.
The interior and exterior of the facility was inspected. There are smoke and carbon monoxide detectors present, but he functionality will be verified by the Fairfield Fire Inspector. The fire extinguishers rate at a minimum 2A10BC are present in multiple locations in the facility. There is one classrooms to support infant license. The current total square footage for the infant room is 1,147 square feet which supports the requested 24 infants on the application. The program is currently operating for ages 12 months through 24 months so no cribs are required. The infants will be sleeping on cots. If the facility decides to serve infants below the age of 12 months in the future, a designated area for cribs to meet regulation will be required. This could potentially affect the available square footage and potentially reduce the licensed maximum infant capacity. The room has 2 toilets and 2 hand washing stations. There are sufficient age appropriate equipment and toys for the preschool age children. There are sufficient cots for napping.
The outdoor play area for the infant children is fully fenced with an artificial turf and padding beneath. The children will use personal water containers or disposable cups due to assist with the mitigation of Covid-19. The outdoor play area is 662 square feet which supports 8 infant children. The facility has submitted a waiver to allowing up to 8 infants in the outdoor play area on a rotational basis.
Covid-19 protocols were discussed with licensee and director. The check in process will be done at the main entrance. Parents will drop their children at the front door and the child will be checked in via the facility QR code and the parents smart phone. The child's temperature and sanitization is done upon entry. The facility is aware of the cohort public heath guidelines to not exceed 16 persons per cohort.
The facility is waiting for final permitting to be completed before the fire inspection can be done. The approved licensure is contingent upon the receipt of an approved fire inspection. |
