25 | An annual random inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Y. Yang. A review of staff records on 06/18/19 indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. There are currently two adults living in the home.
During today’s inspection the home and grounds were toured. The licensee and an assistant were supervising 12 children, and operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements. No children were observed left in any parked vehicle. The facility’s operating hours are 08:30am to 12:30pm, Monday–Friday during the school year. The licensee operates a summer program on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 09:30am to 01:30pm. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The off-limits areas of the home are the main house and the home's second level, and were made inaccessible by a child gate. The home was clean and orderly, and was at a comfortable indoor temperature. There were safe toys and equipment available for children. There is a working telephone in the home. The licensee has current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification, which expire on 03/18/2020. Items which could pose a danger to children (detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, etc.) were stored out of the reach of children. Poisons are locked in a shed in the backyard. The staircase and fireplaces in the home are located in an off-limits area that has been made inaccessible with a child gate. There is a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher, rated at least 2A10BC, in the home. The licensee stated there are no firearms and/or other dangerous weapons in the home, and none were observed during today's inspection. The children use the side yard as the outdoor play area and it is fully fenced. There is an above ground spa in the back yard. The spa has a locked hard cover and is located in an off limits area inaccessible to the children in care. Six children's records were reviewed at 10:25am; required emergency information was observed to be on file.
