25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Glenn Ouye met with licensee Mindy Mohr. The licensee submitted an application to add a toddler component to her preschool license. The current capacity is 84 children. The application is requesting approval for 12 toddlers ages 18 months to 36 months and 74 preschool age children 36 months to entry into first grade.
The facility used one of the rooms which was previously occupied by preschool children. The toddler area is physically separated from the preschool children area. The room meets the requirement for sufficient interior square footage. There is one toilet, 3 potty chairs, a changing table within arms reach of the sink. There is sufficient toys and furniture, equipment and sleeping mats for the 12 children. There is a pull station at both entry doors and a functioning carbon monoxide detector and smoke detector. There is a fire extinguisher rated at 3A40BC. The classroom has two operational air purifiers to assist with mitigation of the Covid-19 virus.
The outdoor area as two activity areas with ample shade for the children. There are age appropriate toys for the children. The outdoor activity area is physically separated from the preschool activity area.
The licensee is aware of the minimum child to teacher ratio of 6:1. The toddler component is an extension of the existing preschool license.
