25 | An announced case management inspection was conducted to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Amy Strother, in response to an application received by the Department on 10/17/2019 requesting an increase in capacity from 58 to 60. LPA met with applicant Catherine Schlager and HR Coordinator, Carrie Wooldridge.
During a subsequent visit on 10/02/2019, LPA Strother measured 3 buildings used for the facilities Preschool license, four classrooms and two outdoor spaces. Two buildings contain 1 classroom each and the third building contains two classrooms. The four classrooms measured were the Rosebud room referred to as the Preschool classroom, the Red Rose room, White Rose room and Yellow Rose room referred to as the Kindergarten classrooms. Based on LPA Strothers measurements, the capacity limitation based on the 3 buildings/4 classrooms is a maximum of 84 children. Fire Marshall approval was made for the requested capacity of 60 on 01/29/2020. There is a fire extinguisher mounted on the wall rated at least 2A10BC. The director stated that the hanging fabric in the classroom has been re-treated as required by the fire marshal.
The increase for 2 additional children bringing the total capacity to 60 is approved as of today 02/05/2020.
Based on review of records, LPA Strother noted that the Fire Marshall included a room referred to as Roots and Shoots in the capacity load measurements. During an interview with Director, Catherine Schlager, LPA Strother was informed during today's visit that the Roots and Shoots program includes different classes of children. Some of the Roots and Shoots classes have scheduled times during the week that children attend with their parent or authorized representative present, but on Tuesdays from 9:00am-12:00pm the "Sweet Pea" class has children ages 2-2.5 years old and on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am-12:30pm the "Blossoms" class has children ages 2.5-3 years old who attend and parents gradually transition to leaving their children in care with qualified teachers as a transition to the Rosebud room. |
