Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Brannon met with Director, Vanessa Cataline. Licensee is Centenary Methodist Church. During today's visit, LPA toured the classrooms and play yards. This facility has a toddler option associated to the preschool license. There is a play yard waiver in place.

LPA and Director Ms. Cataline reviewed classroom #6, that can be potentially utilized during rainy and hot weather. At this time, this classroom is not licensed. There are several items that will need to be addressed before classroom can be utilized by the preschool children.
1) There is a fire place in the classroom. Licensee shall make the fire place inaccessible to the day care children. The fire place has brick surrounding the fire place sides and hearth. This can be a potential risk to children for the intended use of this space. Children can be playing, trip and fall on the brick, thereby causing an injury.
2) Classroom #6 does not have a source of drinking water. Licensee can utilize an igloo with a disposable cup dispenser and disposable cups.
3) Licensee shall cover the electrical outlets.
4) Licensee shall ensure that the storage units are locked when day care children are in the room.
5) Licensee shall ensure that the kitchen shall is made inaccessible to day care children.
6) Licensee will ensure that the children have a schedule when utilizing classroom #6.
7) Licensee shall provide a bathroom procedure. Classroom #6 is far from the licensed preschool bathrooms. If this room was to be licensed, then a written statement on how staff will take children to the restroom and remain within ratio.
8) Licensee is aware that classroom #6 is only to be used as climate dictates during rainy and hot weather.
9) There are floor heating vents. Licensee shall provide a written statement on how the room will be comfortable and children will not be burned by the floor heating vents.

During today's visit, LPA observed that licensee has adequate cushioning, but is not in place in fall zones. LPA is recommending that licensee rakes cushioning into the fall zones and does this as part of staff routine to ensure cushioning is in place as needed.

During today's visit, LPA observed that licensee has utilized pool noodles and blue duck tape on the metal climbing structure. LPA observed that the blue duck tape is peeling, thereby exposing the foam underneath. Licensee is recommending that licensee make repairs to these areas to ensure no foam is showing. This is for disinfection and sanitary reasons.
