25 | On 2/9/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joseph Pacheco conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection and met with Director, Judy Huerta. LPA explained the reason of the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. Facility is located in the Early Childhood Education building on the northeast corner of the Wakefield Elementary School premises and has a separate entrance from the main part of the elementary school. Facility utilizes Classrooms H1, H2, H5 and H6. Licensee is requesting to add Outdoor Play Area C and an Outdoor Garden adjacent to Outdoor Play Area C as a licensed area of the premises. Previously licensed outdoor play areas are Outdoor Play Area A and Outdoor Play Area B. Facility shares Outdoor Play Area A and Outdoor Play Area B with Wakefield State Preschool, License 503605971. Both facilities are preschool age facilities. Facility is accessed by entering through the Early Childhood Education building.
LPA observed all three Outdoor Play Areas and measurements were taken. The total outdoor square footage measures 26,223 square feet which will accommodate the licensed capacity of 80 children. LPA did not observe any high climbing equipment or a play structure in Outdoor Play Area A. The ground consists of grass and concrete. Outdoor Play Area A and Outdoor Play Area B are adjacent to each other on the northeast corner of the premises. LPA observed a play structure with high climbing equipment in Outdoor Play Area B. Facility is utilizing wood chips to provide adequate cushioning where the play structure is located. The ground in Outdoor Play Area B also consists of concrete and grass. Mature trees provide a shaded rest area in both Outdoor Play Area A and Outdoor Play Area B. LPA observed water fountains in Outdoor Play Area A and Outdoor Play Area B. Children are provided water in individual disposable cups from an igloo jug which is filled with filtered drinking water.
Outdoor Play Area C which is located on the west side of the premises, consists of a play structure with high climbing equipment that is utilizing wood chips to provide adequate cushioning. The ground also consists of grass and concrete. LPA did observe a water fountain in this play area. Director stated the water fountain is too tall for preschool age children to utilize and a shorter replacement is being ordered. Children will be provided water in individual disposable cups from an igloo jug which is filled with filtered drinking water.
