25 | On 04/01/2021, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Angelica Mejia conducted a Licensee initiated case management tele-inspection. Due to COVID-19 and the suspension of in-person visits, LPA conducted a tele-inspection with Licensee Treaviona Bryan via Google Duo. Licensee is requesting to make Bedroom #1, which was previously off-limits to children in care, accessible to daycare children for distance learning activities.
LPA inspected Bedroom #1 and observed a drawer chest with a large screen television on top with all drawers containing clothing. The drawer appeared sturdy and sits firmly on the floor; Licensee demonstrated the drawer’s sturdiness by shaking and attempting to move it, but the drawer did not move. LPA also observed two children’s desks and a child’s LEGO play table in the room. LPA observed one closet in Bedroom #1, which upon inspection contained a tall matching drawer chest with all drawers containing clothing as well as a small matching night stand with only clothing in the drawers. LPA observed both furniture items in the closet to be stable and secure. LPA suggested Licensee look into options for child safety locks to make the closet inaccessible if needed. LPA observed a twin sized bunk bed with a built-in ladder to allow access to the top bunk. The bunk bed is used by Licensee’s children and is placed against a wall away from the window on the adjacent wall. Licensee shook the bunk bed to demonstrate its sturdiness to LPA; LPA observed the bunk bed move slightly but remain stable on the ground. LPA advised Licensee of the potential dangers of bunk beds; Licensee is aware of child safety around the bunk bed and assumes all responsibility. Licensee stated only school age children will have access to Bedroom #1 during daycare hours. LPA did not observe any safety or security hazards in Bedroom #1. Licensee can utilize Bedroom #1 for daycare children effective 04/01/2021. “Off-limits” rooms are made inaccessible by plastic doorknob covers and locks. Licensee provided an updated facility sketch to LPA via email, which LPA printed and placed in the facility file.
Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies were cited. An exit interview was conducted with Licensee and a copy of this report and appeal rights were provided via email. Licensee will send a copy of the report signed with her original signature to the Fresno Regional Office. |
