On 6/30/22 at 11:25am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Emilia Grisak conducted an unannounced complaint inspection, and met with Director Stephanie Souza-Pasquale. It was alleged that staff yells at daycare children. The Director was interviewed on 4/21/22 at 8:45am and stated that she does not yell but she does get serious and firm with the children. The Director stated that all staff have a loud voice and she is consistent with how she speaks to the children and there have never been complaints. Four staff, ten parents, and five children were interviewed on 4/21/22, 4/27/22, 4/28/22, 5/5/22 and 7/1/22 regarding the allegation. It was stated by four out of four staff that staff do not yell at children. It was stated during staff interviews that staff all have loud voices but are always polite to children. It was stated by nine out of ten parents that they have not seen or heard of staff yelling at children. It was stated by one parent that there was concern regarding how staff talked to a child. It was stated by children that staff do not yell at them but staff have been heard to yell "stop" sometimes. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, and the findings are unsubstantiated.

On 6/30/22 at 11:25am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Emilia Grisak conducted an unannounced complaint inspection, and met with Director Stephanie Souza-Pasquale. It was alleged that staff encourage daycare children to hit other daycare children. The Director was interviewed on 4/21/22 at 8:45am and denied the allegation and stated that children are never encouraged to hit back. The Director stated that if a child is hit they are told to ask the hitter to stop and walk away and if the child continues to hit they are told to go get a teacher. The Director stated that when a child is hit the hitter is removed, they try to find what the problem is, then both children are brought together to see if the issue can be resolved. Four staff, ten parents, and five children were interviewed on 4/21/22, 4/27/22, 4/28/22, 5/5/22 and 7/1/22 regarding the allegation. It was stated by four out of four staff that hitting is not allowed and children are encouraged to use their words and say “no thank you”. It was stated during staff interviews that children are not encouraged to hit and are put on time out for hitting. It was stated by nine out of ten parents that they have never seen staff encourage children to hit each other. It was stated by one parent that they heard children are encouraged to fight but has never seen it happen. It was stated by five out of five children that hitting is not allowed and it was stated that children are placed on time out for hitting. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, and the findings are unsubstantiated.
On 6/30/22 at 11:25am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Emilia Grisak conducted an unannounced complaint inspection, and met with Director Stephanie Souza-Pasquale. It was alleged that staff does not treat daycare child with dignity and respect. The Director was interviewed on 4/21/22 at 8:45am and stated that she runs the facility similar to a military school and they are very structured. The Director stated that she is firm with children but does not yell at them and children are taught to be respectful and polite. Four staff, ten parents, and five children were interviewed on 4/21/22, 4/27/22, 4/28/22, 5/5/22 and 7/1/22 regarding the allegation. It was stated by four out of four staff that staff have never been observed being disrespectful to children. It was stated during staff interviews that there are strict rules but staff are always positive and encouraging to children. It was stated by ten out of ten parents that they have never seen staff being disrespectful to children. It was stated in parent interviews that they are very happy with the school and staff. It was stated by children that staff are nice to them Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, and the findings are unsubstantiated. An exit interview was conducted. The Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 days.
