25 | On 9/15/22 at 12:30 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) J. Helton conducted an unannounced annual visit and met with director Rebecca Canada. Staff files are located in a separate location, therefore LPA began with child file review and will continue visit later. Facility toured at 1:10PM, LPA was on site for one hour. On 9/16/2022, at 11:40, an annual inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), J. Helton. This program is operated by Head Start. Operating hours are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday–Friday. The facility was toured at 1:10 PM inside and outside and the floor and yard plan submitted by the licensee were verified. The director and 9 teachers were supervising 69 children, broken up into different classrooms, and operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements. There are no pools or bodies of water on the premises. The outdoor activity space was cushioned with grass and bark and free of hazards.
The director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
