The facility inspection was conducted via tele-inspection due to the current state of emergency regarding the COVID-19 outbreak by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Wishart. The licensee has requested a capacity increase from 8 children to 14 children. The LPA toured the inside and outside areas.

The home is a single level, 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. There are 2 adults are living in the home. The applicant was advised that all adults residing or working at the facility must have a criminal background clearance on file with CCLD. The applicant is aware of the immediate $100 per day civil penalty for adults working or residing in the home without a criminal record clearance.

Services will be offered Monday - Saturday 3:00 AM-5:00 PM. LPA verified the following: Children will have access to playroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and a hallway bathroom. The homes off limits areas include 2 bedrooms and the master bed/bathroom and laundry area which were made inaccessible via gates and door knob covers. Also, the free standing shop, garage and carport were made inaccessible via locks. The poisons/chemicals are stored in a locked backyard shed which LPA confirmed during the tour. The applicant understands that poisons shall be kept locked . The home appears clean and orderly at this time and will remain so during childcare hours. There is a working telephone. The sharp knives, cleaning supplies, medicines, are stored out of the reach of children. The applicant stated no firearms or ammunition is stored on site and none were observed. The children in care will have access to age appropriate toys and equipment. The home is equipped with a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and it has a fire extinguisher rated at least 2A10BC. The children will use the local park for outside play as the backyard of the home is off limits.

The backyard is fully fenced and there is a fence preventing access to the alley way behind the home. There is a built in pool in the back yard that is surrounded by a chain link fence. The licensee is meeting the pool waiver requirements at this time. There are two fire places in the home, one in the living room and one in the converted garage/play room. The fireplace in the garage/playroom is unusable and turned off and has a board blocking the entrance. The wood fireplace in the living room is not used as stated by the applicant. The licensee understands if either fireplace is ever utilized a secured fire fence would need to be installed prior to use. The applicant will maintain current on Pediatric CPR and First Aid (9/22/20) as well as Mandated Reporter Training (expires 9/13/21).The Licensee took the Preventive Health Practices class on 7/27/19 which included the nutrition portion but did not include the lead exposure testing portion, however, the license is enrolled in a class offered on 10/3/2020.

The applicant currently is not providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS) but the Licensee understands the need to file an IMS plan with CCL if ever accepting a child with those needs.
