25 | On 11/21/2019 an inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), David Wilson. The facility file was reviewed prior to this visit on 10/17/2019. A review of the personnel report on file indicates that all facility staff have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. This is a preschool license that is operated in the same building as Little Hoppers EHS preschool. Operating hours are 8:00am-4:30pm, Mon-Fri, with separate AM/PM classes. The facility is closed during the summer.
The facility was toured inside and outside and the floor and yard plan were verified. The items which could pose a danger to children (detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications) were inaccessible to children. Site Supervisor Curiel stated some cleaning products are stored in the janitor closet, but that no poisons are stored on site; none were observed. The toys, floors, desks and other equipment were clean and safe. The children's bathrooms were in safe and sanitary condition. Corning Head Start and Little Hoppers EHS preschool have waivers on file to allow the programs to share a restroom and play yard with separation ensured via scheduling. The conditions of the waivers were in effect during today's visit. A current menu was posted. Food prep areas are clean. Food is properly stored and free of contamination. Garbage cans containing solid waste have tight fitting lids. The playground was free of hazards. The playground equipment and surface areas were in safe condition. There is wood chip cushioning underneath climbing structures and/or play equipment sufficient to absorb falls. There were no bodies of water observed. Site Supervisor stated no weapons are stored on site; none were observed. During today's inspection, staffing ratios were being met. Two fully qualified teachers and one teachers aid were supervising 17 children. The facility was operating within the licensed capacity. At least one staff member present possessed current CPR and First Aid certifications that expire 8/2020. One staff record was reviewed and contained current mandated reporter certificate, employment health exam, required immunization's, and Tuberculosis test. This staff file was in compliance. Seven children's records were reviewed and contained authorized representative information and consents for emergency treatment. The sign in/out procedure was reviewed and in compliance.
