25 | An inspection was made to the facility by LPA, Chris Krogstad. The facility file was reviewed prior to this inspection. This is a Title 5 program operated by Tehama County Department of Education and is housed on the Metteer Elementary School grounds.
Operating hours are 8:15am - 11:15am and 11:30pm - 3:30pm, Mon-Fri. The facility is closed in the summer. The facility was toured inside and outside and the floor and yard plan submitted by the licensee were verified. There were no items which could pose a danger to children (such as detergents, cleaning compounds and medications) observed accessible to children. Poisons are locked in a cabinet in the storage closet. The toys, floors, desks and other equipment and surfaces are clean, toxic free, safe and in good condition. The children's bathrooms are in safe and sanitary condition. Food is prepared by the elementary school and brought over. Extra food was observed to be properly stored and refrigerated as needed. There was no contaminated food observed. Garbage cans containing solid waste have tight fitting lids. The playground was toured at 1:18pm and was free of hazards. The playground equipment and surface areas were in safe condition. There are wood chips to provide cushioning underneath the climbing structure to absorb falls. Uncontaminated drinking water is provided via a drinking fountain. There were no bodies of water observed on the property. The site supervisor stated no weapons are stored on site and none were observed. During today's inspection, Title 5 staffing ratios were being met. 21 children were being supervised by two teachers and one aide. The facility was operating within the licensed capacity. The sign-in/sign-out procedure was reviewed at 1:31pm and was compliance. Ten children’s records were reviewed at 1:23pm, and contained Emergency Identification information. Staff records for the three staff present were reviewed at 1:40pm and contained documentation of education and training as required. At least one staff member present during the visit (S2) possessed current CPR and First Aid certifications.
