25 | On August 24, 2023 Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Kari McWilliams and Lady Cabrera conducted an unannounced case management visit due to a fire in the facility on July 3, 2023. LPAs met with Licensee Claudia Torres Caratachea and informed her for the purpose of the inspection. LPAs toured the facility and a census was taken.
LPAs observed the day care room and bathroom inside the daycare room to be unaffected by the fire. The fire was consumed to only the laundry room. LPAs observed that the laundry room was finished with the construction. Licensee Caratachea stated that she uses a bathroom in the home if the bathroom in the daycare room is in use and the laundry room is used as a walk through to the other bathroom. LPAs observed that there are child safety locks on the cabinets and there are no safety hazards to children present in the inside bathroom. Licensee confirms that the children are escorted by her to the other restroom with constant supervision.
LPAs observed that there is a working carbon monoxide, smoke detector and a working fire extinguisher was present on the premises.
LPAs observed that there were no hazards present in the daycare, Licensee is approved to continue to provide care and supervision to children. Due to Licensee being a large facility a new fire clearance maybe requested.
Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies are cited.
