On September 26, 2022 @10.:35 AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rona Chavez conducted an unannounced required annual inspection. LPA met with Director Kate Spiva. Director provided LPA a tour of the facility inside and out. There were 36 children in care with 7 staff providing care.

The center is on the Campus of Monica Ros School and uses 3 classrooms for the preschool. Facility has a waiver on file for up to 12 children to attended after school care between the ages of 6-9 years old. At the time of the inspection there were no school age children in attendance. The facility has a large outdoor space that surrounds the classrooms the school playground is separated from he center playground. The facility does not prepare meals or snacks for the children. The center orders food on Tuesday and Thursday each week from local restaurants. Each classroom has a working carbon monoxide detector. LPA did not observe any toxins or hazards accessible to the children. All chemicals are stored in janitors closet and locked. LPA observed sufficient amount of restrooms and sinks for the children. Required forms were posted at the entrance of the center. There are age appropriate furniture, toys and play structures inside and out side of the center. The playground has ample amount of shade available. The facility has water available for children inside and out.

Center uses hand written sign-in and sign-out logs. The last fire drill was conducted on 09/02/2022. A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. Teachers have required qualifications. Teachers present have current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certificates that expire on 06/2023. Teachers present have current AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificates that expire on 08/10/2023. LPA verified SB 792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis Requirements. LPA provided information on Lead Testing Requirements, Provider Information Notices (PIN) and Director qualifications.

No deficiencies were cited during today's inspection.

Licensee is not currently providing Incidental Medical services.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with the Director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
