Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ana Tolentino met with Site Supervisor Teresa Martinez for the purpose of conducting an Annual Random Inspection. The purpose of the visit was discussed with the Site Supervisor. The center operates in five classrooms all year round from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday thru Friday. A tour of all indoor and outdoor activity space was conducted.
Cleaning products and all items that could pose a hazard to children are stored inaccessible to children. Medication is kept in a safe place, properly labeled for each child and inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment is in good and safe condition. Toilets and hand washing facilities are clean and sanitary. Floors are clean and sanitary. Carpets are washed as needed. Children are provided breakfast, snack and lunch. Food menu is posted in a visible location for parent's to view. Center has a staff cook and kitchen area. All food items are properly stored and kitchen area is clean and in sanitary condition. Kitchen areas is inaccessible to children. Center has water softer system and drinking water is readily available by means of drinking fountains in the classrooms and water jug in the outdoor play area. The playgrounds have shaded areas, and age appropriate toys/equipment. The areas around or under high climbing equipment have proper cushioned material The playground is shared with the CDR program, different scheduled times. Staff conduct morning sweeps of the outside play areas to make sure it's free of hazards. Trash containers have tight fitting covers. Outdoor activity space is free of hazards with no bodies of water on the property. All materials, surfaces and floors are toxic free, safe and free of hazards.
Teacher to child ratio was met during the time of the visit with 18 staff supervising 87 children. All staff working at the facility today have a criminal record clearance. Children's and Staff records reviewed contain required documentation. Current CPR and First Aid cards were reviewed for staff present. AB1207 Mandated Reporter Training and SB792 Adult Immunization on file.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) The center currently has children with IMS, proper documents on file. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. No deficiencies were cited during today's visit. Licensee posted the LIC9213 (Notice of Site Visit) in LPA presence.
