25 | On June 16th, 2022, LPA Austin Rios conducted a Case Management- Other Inspection to follow up on Action Level Exceedance (ALE) reported to the Regional Office by WWD. LPA met director, Teresa Martinez and conducted COVID-19 pre screening questions prior to initiating the inspection.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010 to test their drinking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first test. If the water testing results indicate that the facility has an ALE, an immediate response shall be required pursuant to section 101704, which may include remediation.
The Regional Office received an ALE for one water outlet in this facility. The Center was notified by LPA of the results on 5/10/2022 by phone and email. LPA received a response from director stating the center has taken the following steps as a Plan of Correction (POC): Facility has two signs that say do not use on there to make it off limits so everyone knows and tape around it. Families were also informed of the test and lead that was found. Facility Director Teresa stated the fixture was replaced by the City of Oxnard and the level dropped from 96 to 11ppb after Adviro agency came out but water outlet is still taped off with sign. This outlet 10160 A is located behind the kitchen door and has not ever been used before. Facility also notified parents as well.
During today’s inspection, LPA toured the entire facility and inspected the outlet in question. LPA found the outlet labeled, tapped, and sectioned off. |
