On August 1, 2024 at 9:00 AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Aaliyah Zendejas conducted an unannounced annual/random inspection. LPA met with licensee Maria Fernandez and advised them of the purpose of the inspection. Licensee provided LPA with a tour of the home inside and out. At the time of inspection there were nine children under the care of supervision of two adults. Licensee denies having guns/ammunition in the home.

LPAs observed required Licensing required documents posted prominently at the entrance. Fire and earthquake drills are being documented every six months. Last fire and earthquake drill was conducted on July 3, 2024. . Fire extinguisher 2A10BC mounted on the wall inside the home was last serviced May 16, 2024. Fire and carbon monoxide detectors were tested at 9:15 AM and found to be in working condition.

Children in care have access to the entirety of the first floor which consists of a front living room area, main living room, kitchen, backyard, and one bathroom. One bedroom and the garage downstairs are off limits, as well as the entire second floor which are all made inaccessible to children via locks and a gate in front of the stairs . LPA observed cribs located near the main living room. LPA observed completed 15 minute checks for infants being documented. Diapering needs are being met inside the downstairs bathroom. Children have access to toys that are age-appropriate inside and outside of the home. There are no bodies of water present at the time of inspection. During the tour, LPA did not observe any hazards/toxins items accessible to children in care. Sharp objects in kitchen are kept out of reach of children.

LPAs reviewed five children files. All children files were current. Licensee CPR/first aid is valid through November 2025. Licensee was reminded a licensed child day care provider, administrator, or employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter certification AB1207 every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com . Licensee's mandated reporter training is valid until October 2025. Continued on 809-C

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPAs discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPAs also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee does currently have infants in care.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

During the exit interview, the LICENSEE, Maria Fernandez, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.

There were no deficiencies cited during today’s inspection.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
