On March 21, 2023 at 11:04 AM, Licensing Program AnalystS (LPAS) Rona Chavez and Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPAs met with Director Shawn Smith and advised her the purpose of the inspection. Director provided LPAs a tour of the facility inside and out. There were 33 children in care and five (5) staff supervising.

The facility is using three (3) classrooms for the preschool program. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 6:30am-6:30pm. This is a combination center with a school age and infant program. LPAs observed licensing required documents posted prominently on the wall at the entrance of the facility. Each classroom had sufficient amount of restrooms available for the children to use. LPAs observed functioning Carbon Monoxide Detector. LPAs observed age appropriate toys, activities, books, and furniture readily accessible for children to use. Cots are provided for children that stay the full day during nap/quiet time. The center provides breakfast, lunch and snack for children while in care. Facility is currently providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS) to children in care.Children have access to water inside and out. LPAs observed facility to be clean and free of toxins/hazards. Outdoor playground had age appropriate play structures and toys.

Center uses Care portal for sign in and sign out. Kinder app is used for communication and daily logging. LPAs reviewed a sampling of children and staff records. Children records were complete and current. LPA verified SB 792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis Requirements. Staff present were fully qualified with CPR/First-aid certificates that expire 2/2025. The last fire drill was completed on 02/26/2023.
On March 21, 2023 , during staff record reviews, LPA's observed 3 records with expired Mandated Reporter certificates. Director stated staff are currently in the process of completing the training. A Technical Violation will be issued.

Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
