13 | Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Ana Tolentino met with Cyndy Ayala and Lizz Alund at the CDR Central Office in Oxnard, to conclude a Complaint Investigation, due to Berylwood Headstart Center currently closed during the summer. The purpose of the visit was discussed.
Investigation included interviews with staff and parents of children enrolled in the day-care. Allegations stated, “Staff failed to protect day-care children from being bullied and staff failed to prevent child from being injured by another child”.
Interviews with staff indicate staff never observed any bullying among any preschool children in care. Staff also indicated, anytime any minor ouch or unusual incident occurs the staff informs the parents and provide written documentation. Staff denied witnessing Child#1 or any child in care being bullied. Interviews with the parents of children in care did not corroborate with the above allegations. Some parents stated they volunteer in the classroom and are happy with the care and supervision provided by the staff.
Although these allegations may have occurred, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violations did or did not occur, therefore these allegations are deemed UNSUBSTANTIATED.
